Filling

Filed under: Family Stuff — November 28, 2008 @ 4:35 pm

There is only one word for it, and that is FILLING.

Sure, some folks call it stuffing, and some call it dressing, but for us, we call it FILLING.

That bread concoction that goes inside the turkey, yes, that’s called filling.  Cause it FILLS the turkey, and then it FILLS you up.   In college when I first asked for FILLING on those Turkey-Thanksgiving-style-meals, I was laughed at.  Yes, I heard the chuckles.  And later, in the work-world when I requested FILLING from the cafeteria ladies on those Turkey-Thanksgiving-style-meals, I again heard the chuckles.  But I  won’t despair.  Yesterday as we put food on our plates my sons were heard to say;

“Mom, you make the  best FILLING.”

THEY know what it is called.  DH isn’t a convert yet but I do have two folks who correctly call it by its proper name.  DH still calls it stuffing.  But it is filling and that is how I feel today.  Full of filling.
