No Broken Ribs

We received the call from the Dr around 5:30 tonight.  Michael did not crack his ribs.  WHEW!  He’s thrilled since this will mean he will be permitted to skate.   On Sunday during practice the team was doing drills around cones, everyone was going slow, and Michael caught the tip of his boot-wheel on a cone.  He went down and laid there.  He told me later that on impact his elbow slammed into his rib cage and the pain was excuriating.   AS I walked from the far end of the rink to where he was laying, I watched as he rolled over to his belly and crawl off the floor.  His coach was talking to him when I reached him.  He was now laying off the rink floor but still on the floor.    Always he has gotten up quickly from a fall but not this time.   He did skate a little more that morning but he was quite sore and this morning readily agreed to getting the Dr to look at his ribs.  She ordered the x-ray when she learned he would be skating and didn’t want to take a few weeks to rest things and let them heal.
