Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not….. Thomas Henry Huxley

Glorious Moment

Today at 15:12 all the trimwork in the house that needed to be painted by me was finished.  There were miles upon miles of it, two coats too.  My right arm is stiff and sore again from painting.  While I was painting I wondered about how nice it would be to just have been able to sit back and watch this entire remodel take place and not have to do anything other than make a few decisions.   Maybe take a few photos too.   I wonder what that’s like?  I’ve never been one to just sit back and watch.  Can’t imagine doing that either.

At inline speed skating practice one of the Dad’s asked if I could help out at the next meet, doing what I wasn’t sure.   We’ve been to one meet and Nationals but I sure didn’t watch what the adults who were helping out were doing.  Even so, it was all I could do to reply with a no, that for their first meet I’m going to watch.   The boys might need me for some unknown reason too.  And while I painted this morning I thought about whether or not that was the right thing to say.  They do need folks to help out and I’ve never sat by and just watched.

The house project is progressing.  DH tried to hang the blinds for the west-facing windows in the kitchen and family room today but the stupid clerk ordered us brackets for back-mounted blinds rather than side-mounted blinds.  The photos and description even says side-mounted blinds.   After cussing about now needing to run to the store to pick up the correct mount-brackets, and how he would be spending $5 in gas for the trip, he switched over to sanding and spray-painting doors.  LOL, at least there are plenty of little jobs for him to switch to until he cools down enough to go back to mounting the blinds.  Once they are mounted then the family room furniture, which is still stuffed into the living room can move back to its proper location.

The new family room lights are finally installed!  The bathroom sink and toilet are in place!  No door there yet since DH is sanding and painting it.  Mark installed all the electrical cover plates today too.  Michael is working on his AP Chemistry subject and remarking how interesting this gas law or that gas law are.  At least dinner is already made for tonight.  Ummmm, New England Clam Chowder.  My own recipe and it is yummmmy.
