Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not….. Thomas Henry Huxley

It is the end of the week, isn’t it?

So I wrote last night exclaiming how glad I was that it was the end of the week.

Silly me.  Sunday is the end of the week. Or is it the start of the new week?  I sure hope it is the END of the week cause I do need this week to be DONE!

Today DH and I went to the local store to purchase  bathroom fixtures!  YEA!! DH finished grouting the bathroom wall tile yesterday before we headed off to the Octoberfest and it looks wonderful in there.  By evening we were going to once again have a first floor operational bathroom.  Soon the toilet was in place, and the new light fixture, and then DH broke the news to me.  He miscalculated.  This is a guy who is leagues ahead of all other handy-men and DIY’ers on knowing how to do things.  Sorry folks but this is the guy that all the neighborhood guys come to for advice on how to do things.  This guy does not mess-up when it comes to planning out a job.  He just doesn’t.  Never.  Ever.   Except for today.

Soon the boys were moving all the school books off the bookshelves and laying them on the floor across the schoolroom.  The bookcase moved, DH cut into the dining room wall so he could place a 2×4 backboard wall support in place.  DH hadn’t figured on needing something to screw the pedestal sink mount into.  OS!!  So now we I have a schoolroom wall that needs to repaired, and be painted, and books everywhere!   I told DH that I finally have figured out his motive for this entire project.  It wasn’t to get me a gourmet kitchen with a sleek family room and a powder room fit for any friend that comes to visit us, no it was to drive his darling wife crazy with the mess and disorganization that reins in this house.  The latest proof of his true motive is how he managed to make sure this mess even now exists in my once highly organized schoolroom.

Oh, and while we did eat our first dinner in our kitchen at our kitchen table tonight for the first time in 5 months, all other family room furniture is still stuffed in the living room.  Two months and counting.  Some projects do need to be completed around here.   Too many pots on the stove, or irons in the fire, or kettles boiling over, ……
