Brutus is a Leonberger, an AKC foundation breed, http://leonberger-hunde.org/breed_history.html . His body should not be black but a tan, his face should and is black. No chow in the background. Leo's were supposedly developed by Heinrich Essig in Leonberg, Germany in the early 1800's, from Newfs, St. Bernard, Great Pyrenees. There might be some other breeds mixed in too but who really knows since breeding records weren't kept. The pups mom is an English Setter.

What kind of dog is Brutus? He looks like a Newfie-Chow mix to me, but I'm only guessing.
