A week in review
Michael completed building a 3′ high stone wall, about 60′ in length around our patio at the yard level. It looks beautiful and he felt so proud of his accomplishment. He should!
We celebrated my birthday on Thursday with a trip to our favorite Mexican Restaurant. Delicious food, great company however the place only had 2 waiters and needed at least three times that many. They just changed locations and I think they were overwhelmed by how this minor change brought in so many more people. Location, location, location.
The wood finisher has been here for four days. He laid the wood floor through the family and kitchen area, stripped the wood floor in the foyer, and has been applying the coating, polishing it, and coating the floor again, and again, again. Four coats. Looks beautiful but I’m ready for him to be finished. It will still be another week before we should move furniture back into these rooms then once again I will be spending time organizing and cleaning out dust from the house.
Since Mark’s jeans definitely qualified as flood pants (4″ too short) we traveled off to Sears yesterday. We knew Mark was getting close to being my height and while out we figured out that he is now taller than his mom! oh my. I’m back to being the shrimp in the family. Only twelve and already taller than mom. Wow. Now if I could only weigh as little as he weighs, 100# at 5′4″ is quite slim.
What a rotten day I had earlier in the week. I learned that a close friend has been talking behind my back about how SHE does NOT approve of US homeschooling at all, that my boys should be in public school, about how then they would have friends, and be properly socialized and educated since they could be around lots of kids their own ages. Guess their in-line speed skating team, their activities with Science Olympiad, swim team, and all their social groups in our hs support group do not count. There were other things said too but the bottom line is it hurt allot. Even when we know that she spoke from a basis of ignorance, it hurts. Yea, and she does think of herself as a queen bee but I neither need her approval nor her friendship.
Today I’m painting the kitchen, Michael is working on his kayak and building another stone wall around a flower bed, and Mark will be hanging trim molding with his Dad.

Tell Michael congrats on the stone wall — I’m very impressed!
I didn’t KNOW it was your birthday…happy belated birthday.
