Howdy!
Life has been extra busy here, but not now, I’ll fill ya in later. All good stuff though.
I’m taking a short break from house cleaning. Something I haven’t done in months. OK, it’s out. My mom would disown me if she knew how infrequently I clean house. Well, she might know but she isn’t around to inspect the top of my door molding for dust anymore (rip mom). House cleaning isn’t one of those fun tasks, and besides my babies need me to do things with them so house cleaning can wait–most of the time. But not this time.
Tomorrow we have 20 or so teenage boys coming over for a day of airsoft wars, and foosball playing, and air hockey playing. ScienceKid and MilitaryKid came up with this idea on their own. Neither wanted a birthday party but they wanted a party with friends. What a great idea though! Invite boys with airsoft guns and play war all afternoon. They chose this weekend since it is between their two birthdays, came up with the invite list….well, actually it was more along the lines of; who do we know who would enjoy a good game of airsoft, and let’s invite them. Presently they are outside setting up shields and defense stands, setting rules, and planning the day. I took care of the food, they took care of bathroom cleaning.
Whew! If there’s one thing I am very glad I did in raising these boys it is teaching them how to clean a bathroom. I also always praised their efforts, only occasionally pointing out a spot that needed to be re-worked. While neither like to clean a bathroom both are excellent at getting the job done. One less chore for me to do, and I have never, ever liked cleaning a bathroom. Might be because it seems to bring back memories of mom telling me to do-it-all-over since I missed a spot.
And why am I cleaning house with teenage boys coming? Well, their moms are dropping them off and most have never set foot in my home before, and quite frankly it is quite dusty. I know! The dust is there cause of that darn wood-burning fireplace we installed! It isn’t my lack of cleaning effort! It is all because of that fireplace putting dust into our air.
Have a good day!
Oh, by the way, ScienceKid came home with FOUR medals, including TWO first place medals, from the State Science Olympiad competition last month! He was most proud of his 3rd place in Evolution, he loves that subject.
