You'll think I'm even more of a nut, but Mirado Classic Black pencils are my absolute favorites -- they are creamy and silky. I discovered them at Staples the other year. Everyone in the house is expressly forbidden from using my pencils!

DJ, thanks for mentioning Mirado Black Warrior pencils. I did some digging around the web for them and the reviews are awesome. Guess tomorrow I need to stop in to Staples and pick up a box or two.

DJ, that's interesting. I wonder when they switched production from the Mexico plant. I bought tons of pencil packs when we first started homeschooling and I still have a few unopened. I bet mine are the Mexican-made.

I saw your post about Ticonderoga pencils. They are no longer made in the USA. Production was first outsourced to Dixon's Mexico plant, and now many Ticonderoga pencils are made in China. So now you do have "cheapo" pencils. I recommend you buy Mirado Black Warrior pencils, made by PaperMate in the USA. They are a quality pencil at a good price. Good luck.

That's too bad! I only buy Ticonderoga, and have the past two years. We occasionally have one that gets over sharpened so the lead falls out, but that's rare. I am in love with Ticonderoga pencils. The erasers are wonderful, the graphite is perfect, ahh.

Sorry you experienced a problem with them!
