Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not….. Thomas Henry Huxley

Another time far, far away

One morning I decided that we needed to explore the trails around our campground. It was easy to get SK to join me but MK took a bit of convincing. He wanted to stay and enjoy the water by our campsite:

Can you blame him? But we left the campsite and walked the length of the pond, or about 2 miles. This was a typical view as we walked:

This is one of the many reasons I go hiking; you just never know what you will find! Or what will find you. This little doe was quite curious about us and we did nothing to frighten it away, or encourage it to us.

Finally though it went flying across the trail and away from us.

We continued through the woods, across a few bridges but never spotted another deer.

One reason for going on this 10 mile hike around the campground was to see from a different angle the streams we kayak and canoe on. These little streams take us from one pond to another in our journeys. They are truly beautiful.

MK loves to fish on these quiet streams which have not only fish but frogs, turtles, heron, eagles, and muskrats.

It seems like a time and a place far, far away from here and now.
