Tie Dyeing T’s
In early August we had a fun family vacation to a state park in upstate New York. One activity we look forward to is tie dyeing t-shirts. This year we came prepared with lots of old t-shirts. MK first lays out the t-shirt, and decides whether to make a sunburst pattern, or some other design.

Here he’s making a t into a cinnamon bun wrap. The T is first laid out then twisted from the center out, twisted and twisted. Finally you roll it tight and put some rubber bands around it.

There are lines to wait in before you get to dye your t.

The shirts turned out great too. The rangers had four buckets; yellow, red, green, and blue for the kids to use. Adults were joining in too.

I’ve been thinking of doing this activity with one of my support groups since it was so much fun. Also we got to turn some dingy looking t’s into pretty super looking shirts. Darn, SK didn’t take any pictures of them. Oh well.

Maybe it’s my generation, but I just LOVE tie dyed t-shirts. I think it’s pretty hard to mess them up and they always look SO cheerful!

Would love to see the end results.
Yesterday Thomas and I used spray-bottle fabric dye to create two t-shirts for him. It was fun, but some day I’ll have to do the real thing!
