Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not….. Thomas Henry Huxley

Life can change in a moment, thankgoodness it didn’t

Opening my email this morning I had one of those emails that you dread from my BIL. The scary kind, but thankfully my sister is fine. On her way home from work yesterday she was broadsided by a 15yo, out driving a friend’s mom’s car. Kid ran a red light and hit her car just behind the driver’s door, spun her around a few times—and she gets motion sick really easily—and destroyed the car.

I talk to this sister every couple days, even though she lives thousands of miles away. She’s the one who I visited last summer in Texas, the one who helped me to understand that siblings without rivalry is possible, and that kids would be wonderful. I am so thankful that she is still around, and OK.

After reading the email I called her, and we chatted for about half-an-hour. She was getting ready for work and she shared the details of the accident. She said she kept telling the kid, ‘don’t you run off, it will be better if you stay here, don’t you run off…..’ That’s the kind of person she is, always thinking about how to help guide a youngster.

So, hug those dear to you. Call them if they are too far away to hug, before it is to late.
