Dilemma

Dilemma — What to do with Brutus while we are in Kansas?  When we got Brutus in January I knew that we did not have any trips in the works that would take us anywhere away from him for YEARS.  I knew that our vacation to NY state would include Brutus and that there were no other trips on the horizon.  I knew, just knew that we would NOT be going to the National Science Olympiad competition in May.

And here we are going.

Brutus will be only 6months old when we go, and we will be gone for a week.  He will be too young to leave in a kennel for a week.  Too young to leave in the home, taken out a few times a day by a willing neighbor.  So I’m thinking —-

Maybe a friend would take him for a week.

Or, maybe a friend would be willing to house sit with Brutus for a week.

Or, we’ll do as the boys suggest and take him with us. NO!   Obviously they have never traveled with a dog before, and this trip will be two long driving days out and back.  They also should know from experience that once there we are busy, busy, busy.  But then they are kids, so I’ll give them a break.

Any suggestions?

You might see if Fetch Pet Care serves your area. I know someone in my area (SF, CA) that works for them; they seem to provide home-based care for your pet.

If they aren’t in your area, you might ask you local animal shelter if they have a fostering program, which would also have people willing to take visiting pets into their home. Some of their foster families might be able to help you with your puppy while you’re gone…

    I know a certain 4 1/2 year old who would LOVE to puppy-sit. ;)
