Retraining
Before leaving for Panera Bread I gave ScienceKid instructions that there was hamburger thawed so his Dad could make hamburgers for dinner. The kitchen was spotless. I was really looking forward to my Moms’ Night Out with my fellow Classical Homeschool Moms.
I walked in my home and was greeted by an excited ScienceKId — we turned around, went back into the garage, and he shared with me the new release mechanism he built for his trebuchet. I love how he took this idea that popped in his head, worked through the bugs on it, redesigned it, and now it was working and doing just what he wanted. VERY COOL!!
I entered the kitchen and the MESS hit me in the eye—-
RAW hamburg still sitting on the counter
Onion slices, and the onion skin still sitting on the counter
Hamburger rolls sitting out on the counter
Mustard, ketchup spills on the counter, and of course the containers still there, and open
Dirty plates by the empty dishwasher
And a huge block of swiss cheese sitting on the counter
I thought, really thought we had gotten it through to these boys that food is to be put away, a kitchen is to be returned to its prior state BEFORE I return.
How often must retraining occur? For my guy I think it must be every time I go out. UGH!!!
The thing is it took me less then 5 minutes to clean the place up, but the talk I gave out lasted a whole lot longer than that.
It was a nice night out
